  1. Passed Health Care Reform:After five presidents over a century failed to create universal health insurance, signed the Affordable Care Act (2010). It will cover 32 million uninsured Americans beginning in 2014 and mandates a suite of experimental measures to cut health care cost growth, the number one cause of America’s long-term fiscal problems.
  2. Ordered for the capture and killing of Osama Bin Laden: On May 2, 2011, Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Ladenis killed by US Special Forces during an early morning (approximately mid-afternoon on May 1 in the United States) raid in Abbottabad, Pakistan.
  3. Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act: The Dodd–Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act(L. 111–203H.R. 4173, commonly referred to as Dodd–Frank) was signed into United States federal law by US President Barack Obama on July 21, 2010.[1] Passed in response to the 2008 global financial crisis, the Act brought the most significant changes to financial regulation in the nation since the regulatory reform that came following the Great Recession.[2][3][4][5] It made changes in the American financial regulatory environment affecting all federal financial regulatory agencies and almost every part of the nation’s financial services industry.[6][7] Studies have found the Dodd–Frank Act has improved financial stability and consumer protection,[9] although there has been debate regarding its economic effects.[10][11] The Act established the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), which from inception to April 2017 had “returned almost $12 billion to 29 million consumers and imposed about $600 million in civil penalties.”[12]
  4. Nominated Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court: Sonia Maria Sotomayoris an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, appointed by President Barack Obama in May 2009 and confirmed in August 2009. She has the distinction of being its first justice of Hispanic descent and the first Latina.[4] Sotomayor was born in The BronxNew York City, to Puerto Rican-born parents.
  5. Won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009: The Norwegian Nobel Committee decided that the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009 is to be awarded to President Barack Obama for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples. The Committee has attached special importance to Obama’s vision of and work for a world without nuclear weapons.
